I'm not seeing where this was going to be the production version. I see the words concept car. Production engineering would have been done by Nissan, like it actually was for the soft top. This was a one-off show piece. Quick market analysis would tell Nissan there is no way a hard top vert would sell at a competitive price point, like they actually did and went with the soft top. This isn't a Mercedes. As an executive there is no way I would pay $1.2M (in today's money) to have an existing car design modified for a couple car shows. If it were an invisible force field technology to keep rain, birds and thieves out of my cabin, then maybe. To me, all signs point to BS. $800k is being thrown out there to try to justify a $62k price tag. It's been kicking around for sale for awhile now... I thought the last time we saw it it was tagged for much less.
