Message The tension rods are a two force member only resisting tension. By far the greatest job is to take the braking forces into the frame. I'm not convinced that an additional structural member is useful in taking these forces into the frame, and the added stiffness in the frame from the added triangulation of members also looks to provide limited benefit. Maybe someone sees something I don't see.
