Message I know that you need to stay below the point of cooking an oil, but 250* is 250* whether its 0w30 or 20w50.

Is it to account for oil pressure decreasing as a result of elevated temperature?

I remember reading on BITOG intro, that he decreased the oil viscosity and it lowered the oil temperature on the track because the oil flow increased (pressure decrease, aka resistance to flow). So perhaps the solution is to lower the oil viscosity, which will actually increase oil flow to the bearings and in turn lower the oil temperature preventing the oil pressure from decreasing as a result of high temperatures. Seems like an optimization problem to me.
