Message He/she will probably have way more information than carfax will

Just a couple things to look for off the top of my head
-Fuel Injectors, 1990 still had the old style injectors, if they haven't been replaced or converted to new style, you can bet you will be
-PTU, there was a recall, check to see if it has been done
-Oil pressure sending units go out pretty commonly on these cars, so if it is showing low to zero oil pressure and is running fine, most likely just the sending unit
-Check for leaks, power steering is a common area for leaks
-Nissan Standard Valve Tick, these engines can be noisy, but not all are bad
a little clicking is most likely the injectors firing
tapping could be lifters, common issue with hydraulic lifters but not a major issue
A rattle around 2500-3000 rpm means worn VTC cam gears (which will also leak oil)
basically, use common sense and look for funny noisy
-Take it for a test drive, listen and feel for any noises/vibrations, is the shifter tight and smooth or mushy and sloppy?

There are plenty of more detailed buying guides, just search on here and on google
