Message rather than having to learn a new interface and pay more money for a proprietary software. This has other benefits such as using the Waze app for real-time traffic alerts for speed cameras and other po-po shenanigans.There are other compatible apps that you can link to your stereo as well.

You also don't have to worry about updating maps on the unit itself; all updates are through your phone. Navigation from Android/Apple is very capable these days and may often times be even better than Pioneer/Alpine/(Insert stereo brand name here). Some also prefer 3d/satellite view. Plus you already have it and are used to it, so why pay for a redundant (and possibly inferior) feature to the one already available?
