well, it isn't a problem as much as it is just the way business is done. You provide a service for whatever the market allows you to get away with. We take our VWs to an awesome mechanic in Austin. However, by his own admission, he will use whatever parts he thinks have a balance between reliability and price. Half-shaft for instance, are some Chinese brand he uses. That same brand costs half the price on RockAuto, but no one would ever know or care unless they dig into it. They make money on the parts up-charge and on the labor. But, that's life...
