Message The 2JZ is, in many ways, one of the best engines ever produced. The Getrag 6-spd was also one of the best/strongest transmissions in mass-production. I'm sure many would've preferred to see Toyota come up with an even better platform.

The twin (sequential?) turbo straight 6 engines from BMW have had miserably failing high pressure fuel pumps (direct-injection). I'm not sure if they've resolved this yet. And last time I checked, there wasn't an aftermarket solution available yet. So you're pretty much at the mercy of BMW's chosen power output until someone produces HPFP internals that can handle more flow. Also, direct injection can't handle a full E85 conversion; only a mix of E85 and pump.
