Message Still, map trace is a function of software. What Moates did was to implement software (firmware) in their interface that would be a self sustaining way of doing map trace. Meaning that only a little bit of programming was needed in order to poll the map trace values. You still need software to make it happen. Getting the info isn't magic :) They improved this function in the version II but I haven't used it's capability in my own "software" yet.

Yes you can tweak an ostrich in realtime on the fly. Doing it is just like doing it with Nistune (but faster!). Anything you do with Nistune you can do with the Ostrich. Nistune software even supports the Ostrich in their software and the tuning with it in real time is the same.

As far as your number 4. Yes the Ostrich connects to the same 28 pin socket as the Nistune does. Logging and all that is again, software. You poll for data and receive it through whatever you use to connect to the consult port and log it from there. Doesn't matter what's plugged into the socket. Zim, Nistune or Ostrich. They are all emulators. As far as the speed, sending data to the Ostrich is much faster because you send it via a USB port on the Ostrich. You read the data on the consult port. With Nistune you do both on the consult port and that's why it's slower. You have to stop and start the data flow during tuning. With the Ostrich you always have a constant flow of data to the PC software from the consult port while you send changes to the Ostrich via a USB cable connected to it at even greater speeds.

So, reading the data from the Ostrich is the same as you do from Nistune. You do it through the consult port. Sending data to the Ostrich is really fast. You can send or receive a whole bin file in less than 15 seconds. With the Ostrich, changing a complete tune can be done in a click of the mouse and it can hold 8 bin files for immediate access.
