The OEM knock control system does work for the entire RPM band. It listens for knock at lower RPM and then calculates how much timing to pull at high rpm based on that. For the record, there are *lots* of other glitches like this in big injector tunes... long-term O2 self-learn, VTC, MAF fail-safe mode, cranking injector pulsewidth (some 740cc tunes dump 2x too much fuel during cranking, lol), catalyst warm-up maps, hysteresis values... the list goes on. Only the 370cc injector guys know how smoothly these cars should really run. Can you un-plug your MAF, start your car and drive away normally (up to 2500rpm) with no bucking or stalling?? You should be able to.
