Message I too have been trying to figure this one out. I've been speaking with a lot of Z32 owners in Europe who have European Z32's and so far it appears the European models do not have the restrictor in their return hose. Keep in mind European Z32 came with a larger cooler than USDM/JDM.

While I have the Euro spec oil cooler, I bought it via Coz's kit as the OEM hoses and bracket are NLA and have been for some time. I have since been able to track down and purchase a Euro cooler with all of its hoses and brackets from someone in the UK. The cooler is toast but the bracket and hoses are still good. Upon inspection of the return hose it appears it does not have the restrictor in it. Sure someone could have removed it but I highly doubt it. Those buggers are tough to remove without damaging the hose. So far it appears they don't have them.

Everything else about the oil cooler system according to the parts catalog between USDM and Euro spec is the same...with the exception of the cooler and its two hoses to and from the cooler. If in fact Nissan engineers did not use the restrictor in the Euro spec return hose and only used it in the USDM hose, my conclusion seems to lean towards thinking it had something to do with the size of the USDM cooler and why it was used. Thus to control flow to keep it in the cooler longer to cool. With a larger cooler it would not have been necessary maybe?
