Message If the restrictor was removed, the oil would flow too quickly for the cooler to adequately cool the oil before recirculating through the engine. The restrictor is not necessary if converting to a "full-flow" oil cooler arrangement, in which a thermostatic sandwich plate would modulate flow depending on the demands of the engine (temperature). If using factory oil line routing, leave the restrictor alone.
