Have you been assigned to go to a "Star" smog station? For the last two smog checks my 90tt has been asked to be sent these facilities. More stringent standards--for 14 years prior to this I never failed smog--after going to a "Star" station, I barely failed until I changed the oil right before test and drove my ride very hard prior to arriving at the facility. However, have heard many positive things about JER. Sadly, Sacramento's smog nazis really want older cars off the road...
