There are too many variables which affect turbo life to be able to say for sure. Have the mechanic physically show you and explain to you how he determined the turbos are ok. Without removing the downpipes, he has no metrics to back up that claim besides the 23 year-old mechanical boost gauge (which is a laughable method of doing so). These cars are expensive to repair (and work on if you can't repair it yourself). You're going to need tools and knowledge and/or deep pockets. With that said, a leakdown test and turbo inspection are mandatory prior to purchasing, IMO. P.S. have all claims of recent maintenance proven as well. 120k job is not cheap either and could cause a catastrophic failure if not truly performed as owner claims.
