Message We use thicker material because we need it to last for years. Next year they'll probably have a new manifold anyway. Thinner material is fine for that. Those slip joints do help, and are used on a lot of aftermarket manifold options because they allow movement with negligible leak. Trouble with our application is we just don't have the space for a 3" section of straight tube to fit one.

Longer tubes increasing spool is just plain wrong from a thermodynamics standpoint. Especially when they've got the manifolds exposed to fresh air and not wrapped/coated in any way.
