Message	structure? I do agree that this will likely increase some flex, but to what extent and how much remains to be seen. JaffaUK is probably experienced enough to discern the before and after. My gut feel is that 95% of folks would never notice aside from more noise, etc. Is it possible to simply weld in an X (not a cross) across the opening using some thick steel 2" wide strips?
