ended up just press fitting them in. Found out that need to put sealant on them before pressing them in. A second engine pull later, 12 new plugs and sealant everything was in order. Did not reseal the thermostat housing pipes, assumed that since I didn't break the seal nothing would cause it took leak. Upon engine start up found coolant pouring out. Engine pull later to seal the core plugs, had to reseal the pipe. Pipe is not meant to be removed with the heads installed. I did not want to remove the heads, was lucky enough to be able to remove the pipe, reseal the joint and get it sealed back on the block.
