If you find a good subie builder they'll file the ring lands to increase the tolerances to help prevent the issue. I have 40k on my rebuilt STi with stock internals. I wish I wouldn't have. My last dyno after a retune in jan was 379t/370whp before I was getting spark blow out. Mine always consumed some oil, but now I'm burning (before this last tune) about a quart a thousand miles. I'm hoping I've got a valve seal issue and not ring lands. But at this point it doesn't matter, I'm just waiting for it to finish itself off before I build again.
