There is always a way, metal is not that difficult to manipulate when you have the right tools. It might just not be very "turn key". The over all width will effect your suspension geometry as well, depending on where the steering tie rods pivot point is. Oil pan clearance is another concern. I have modified Nissan 240sx front cross members further forward to aid in suspension geometry while re-using the stock pickup points. It is possible, it just depends on how much time & money someone wants to spend.
