We made a few systems back in the day with Magnaflow mufflers, they do not seem to be packed well, they are much louder than anything else we ever used, they also tend to rasp on a Z. About 15 inches long is about all that will fit reasonably that still allows you to get a pipe connected without the muffler sitting too low. You can go wider than 8 inches, also taller, but not much available that is short enough. Plenty of room to go 12 inches wide, but again most that are taller and wider are also longer and will not fit.Offset inlets offer the ability to make the system with much softer bends. We use Sebring Mufflers because they allowed us to customize how the inside is made when ordered in high quanities, this allowed us to reduce the sound and remove rasp that the standard mufflers typically have in the required size. The Custom muffler we use is 14 long, 9 inches wide, 5 inches tall. We ask for very tight packing and a micro-perforated core to offer the best sound and the least volume possible for the size. The Apexi Muffler mentioned above would likely be a reasonable sound level, not easy to get a good look with single tips on the wide Z rear end.
