Just because it’s lighter doesn’t mean it’s weaker – the BDE alternator bracket has been cast from A356 aluminum and heat treated to T6 specifications with a nominal tensile strength of 41,000 PSI (OE iron castings of this nature are typically Grade 25 iron, which means a tensile strength as low as 25,000 PSI). So, not only is the BDE alternator bracket lighter but it’s also stronger than the original iron part."
