Message	to a local a year ago. Paint was in good shape. But if you find a cf hood for the right price, it's not a bad move. I remember seeing someone's comparison pictures of the aluminum hood vs cf hood on a scale and the cf was slightly lighter, contrary to popular believe. I'm sure style/manufacturer/finish plays a role as well but the difference is negligible either way so go with what's more easily available to you.
