Few months ago I took my recently tuned E85 stock turbo Z to the local drag strip for test n tune. At the time I was running a RPS max street clutch with about 15-20k on it. I knew the clutch was not ideal for drag racing but figured if I skipped the burnouts and took off easy that I could make a couple passes for fun. Maybe even beat my previous personal record of 12.4 on q16....

Yeah, I barely made it to the end of the track. Clutch was completely gone by the time I got into third. Sucks when family and friends pay to come watch you run and you barely make one pass but at least I had plenty of people to push me back into the pits and up onto my buddies trailer. Still managed a 13.4 on that run.

A few weekends later my co-worker David and I installed a new SZ high-5 clutch and new flywheel plates. Tricky buisness getting those old allen head screws out of the flywheel with out stripping them. Fortunately we figured it out.

Back to the strip, this time we went out for Wednesday night bracket racing. My first practice run ended up being my best and only 11 second run. I ran a 11.6 at 123mph with a 1.75 60ft. Every run after that got much worse with lots of wheel hop and tire spin. Seemed like no matter what I tried the tires just slipped more and more each time. Survived one round of bracket racing and only because my opponent fouled.

I've been very happy with my new Nitto 555r's for street driving. They seem to hold my power well except when cold out. Anyways, I'll be purchasing some ET Streets before going out again next spring. I can see low 11's or even high 10's with some practice and better tires.
