determined that it's not right. To me, that would be enough to warrant replacement. When you say "as it should", I assume you're comparing it to the other springs that are not bent. The heat of the powdercoating process should not have bothered the spring, but spring tempering is not always consistent, and the springs are old, (assuming these are original springs). And, who can say it was heat. Maybe they mishandled the spring. .........A simple test could be to hang a weight on it, and the others that are not bent, and compare pulled length. Also, compare closed length. You could try to pull the spring open, with some weight on it, then time how long it takes to lift the weight, but that gets a little tricky to do at home.
