Message	for straight line racing and road racing I cant see having more gears being beneficial. Once you lose the boost when you shift, your car has to work to build it back up. In this amount of time you lose acceleration time coupled with the traction problems of trying to crunch a lot of power in a short gear/time/speed range=poorer performance.
