Message Earlier this year, just a couple weeks before Z nationals, my Z overboosted and resulted in a side of the road breakdown. Notice the oil line on ground behind the car?
Breakdown

Here is a clue that this was not going to be a simple fix.
Along with fact that the Z puked out most of the oil through the holes in the pan.

Fortunately the heads were not damaged and I was able to remove them with turbos still attached saving some time.

and I still had the original 42,000 mile engine on a stand.
So I pulled the heads off of it and put the original short block back into service.

I fixed what I believed to be the cause of overboost (D-side wastegate arm rubbing bracket). Tested and confirmed both wastegates. Confirmed no boost leaks.
Put everything back together and added a Blitz boost controller with Peak hold and playback capabilities.

From here I tested the car and found the car was still spiking on boost.

Long story short, with All Breather mods on the car, the turbos were pushing more air than the Wastegate could bleed off.
So even though the wastegates were opening, boost kept building.
Talking with SZ, it was recommended to remove the separator on the Downpipes between the wastegate pipe and the turbine pipe.
I realize that this is not news to some, but I wanted to share this info again for anyone reading and thinking about doing full breather mods.

Don't let this happen to you.

The stock short block build ran like a top til the wall encounter at Barber.
