It's not just my amps I hate, I also hate my iPod and iPod controls. Every since I gave up CD"s I have been so unhappy with the state of car audio. Where to begin? I have a 5 channel Infinity amp that doesn't have the punch to run a sub, so I added a mono 900x1 Sony and that does the trick nicely for a dvc infinity kappa perfect sub. The Infinity 5 channel is actually a warranty replacement for a 6 channel amp from Infinity that never worked correctly. I suppose they discontinued it for that reason and instead replaced it with a new 5 channel a few years ago. The infinity amp still doesn't pack as much punch as I would like for my stereo but turning it up too loud creates too much high pitch. And finally there is a metal trim cover on the amp that has shaken loose and come off and now won't stay on. Once I tracked down the squeak I realized it was the amp and I've super glued the trim panel back on it. If it comes off again, I'm tossing it. I also have a capacitor on my mono amp which works wonders for my sub though. Then I had an alpine head unit which sucked terribly, I gave it up for a Pioneer which I love a lot but it's too wide for my DIN to fit properly. ' Then there are the iPod controls. Both head units were terrible and my iPod Gen 5 skips every other song due to a problem in the algorithm of iPods after the song is converted. I use AAC instead of MP3 because I hate low fidelity. I have even sent the iPod off for an upgraded hard drive and battery, same problem. My .WAV files on my pc never skip, just the AAC on my ipod once it's connected. So I spend all my time getting the ipod to play the songs properly rather than being able to just sit back and enjoy my music. Arrghh!
