Message range, however there are some exceptions. It looks like your amp is a 5 channel amp, so if all 5 channels are class D, I'm sure they were designed to be full range.

You're seeing such a difference because you're comparing apples to oranges. On one hand you've got a new, likely overrated 75w rms x4 amp (the Alpine). One the other hand, you've got an old school 100wrms x 4 amp that is probably actually putting out 125w+ if you compare the amps both at 14.4v.

There isn't any reason a class D amp should be "better". They are typically more efficient, so you're electrical system is going to be happier, but that's about it.
