Message	It should be able to move all the way back without issue unless the bearing sleeve was hanging up on the snout of the trans, this would cause the fork to move and bearing to stay put breaking the spring, Could also be a source of the clutch not releasing all the way and slipping. Was the snout of the trans worn or gouged in any fashion, Properly lubricated with moly grease?
