A solid alternative to what you did would be the oem bracket that came on the z32, I think I have half a dozen in a box somewhere so I know they're not difficult to find. No drilling necessary, and it doesn't look like a hobo tried to steal my tag. And I looked through all you friends photos and I hold firm to my statements, but I request you at least be aware of the possibility you're incredibly naive in the matter, much like your amateur photog friend.
