This is the event of the year for me since my first exposure to it last year, I think people enjoy these cars on here + Arnel's z32 was in attendance so here we go. It was quite an eventful trip, and after the fuel pump fiasco last year that delayed my arrival until midnight the day before the show, I vowed to myself to be better prepared this year. My car made it there and back for the 200 miles round trip just fine, others weren't so lucky. Planned on leaving San Diego early evening on Friday night, a local z friend with a 260z/L28 turbo, his wife and daughter followed us in a nissan versa. 30 miles north of the city, his head gasket blew. Apparently there were others who had catastrophic failures on the trip also, I guess the 100+ degrees heat wave coupled with 40 yr old cars are no good. Tough luck.. he took it really well, fortunately a friend lived close by who was able to come trailer the downed Z away, and David hopped into the versa with his family and we continued the trip. Arrived to our hotel at 11:30 pm... 30 minutes earlier than last year yay!
View from the 9th floor room, stayed at the Renaissance Long Beach marriot this year, definitely recommended.
Waking up early
You can see the Queen Mary across the bay
Already forming a long line before the gates open
As soon as the police on the right was out of sight, I flipped a quick U turn in one shot.
The mean looking GTR didn't pull it off in one shot :)
It was already toasty at 7:30 am
Quick spray detailed, new shoes for this year. I also didn't have the triple carbs last year.
To my left, is a silver 280z that won the Nissan Sport Magazine's Datsun of the Quarter contest on facebook. I also won that contest this summer, being placed right next to him was a treat. Another craziness - the green Z to the right, was staged next to me at the last year's show!
Mr. K was in attendance with his yellow G-nose, he turned 103 years young that day.
This guy drove from Illinois with 3 people in the car (in a 2 seater)
Each of these had something ridiculous under the hood, rb or vh type newer efi motors.
Look who smuggled their 90's car into the show (Arnel)
How to tell if someone has a dirty looking engine bay
Went to hide in the little shade that the z provided

One of my favorites at the show
AE86's
I had this great idea of taking wheel profile shots of almost every car at this point, but the camera decided to run out of battery pretty shortly...
The infamous te37v
Almost bought these cr01's before going with my current wheels
The most pleasant surprise of the day; I actually placed in the best 240z category. For a show of this caliber this was an absolute treat, considering the quality of the cars that showed. The 240z's actually had its own category vs the later s30 models due to the larger attendance. Pics taken with a cellphone, accepting the award wearing a z32 shirt.
Nice way to end the weekend, thanks for viewing.
I forgot to mention some of the 'celebrities' at the show: - 'Mary' from the original Ken&Mary tv commericial - BRE race team driver Jim Morton - Johnnie Gable - Jun Imai (designer for hot wheels) - Ken Block's sister
