Message paint on my valve covers and followed the instructions. I sprayed three coats and the instructions said to spray it on thick so that when dry and cured, it would wrinkle like here...

Linky

After I was done painting it... it was red, shiny, and smooth without drips. After 2 hours... it looked like alligator skin. Curing the valve covers for 20 mins in a powdercoating oven at 200 degrees did not help matters. I think, contrary to the instructions, thin coats are better.

I tried some paint remover to remove the paint and start all over. It bubbled the paint and worked like it was supposed to but when I tried to scrape it off, it just smeared, remained like a gelatinous goo, and was just plain stupid.

I went to a powdercoating shop by my place this morning and for sandblasting all the goop off and powdercoating to red, he would charge me $200. He said that if there was no paint on it and just some grease, he would charge less. I should have just powdercoated the covers from the get go and avoided the stress. The price is cheaper than getting them from a vendor and dealing with shipping both ways. I shoulda taken pictures but it was pretty horrible.
