I purchased my first 300zx last year after many years of waiting for the kids to grow up so daddy could get his mid-life crisis car (early).. Last week, my wife and I drove the Z to Gatlinburg, TN to celebrate 19 years of marriage. I purposely avoided the Interstate, and took all back roads from Huntsville, AL to Gatlinburg. While there, we took in the sites, drove some wonderful roads, including the Tail of the Dragon, and drove the Interstate back home. The car was a dream to drive for the trip, and didn't give us any problems. Even gave me 23 mpg up and 22 back (it seems to prefer highways too). It's everything I expected and more.
