Is it somehow possible to get a false reading off of an aftermarket boost gauge?
The reason I ask was 2 Fridays ago I met this kid at the drags who had recently purchased a converted 2+2 TT. He ran a 13.7 which suprised me for the overal "stockness" of the conversion, and the altitude of our track. He told me that he was cranking up his old school Greddy boost controller and was reading 19 on his autometer boost gauge. He also said he was doing this on pump (91 octane) fuel. I said he should turn that down because he will destroy the motor with detonation at that boost with such a low octane. Of course he didn't listen... Was his gauge reading wrong? Or is this guy on the verge of learning a very very expensive lesson?
