Back in 2006/2007 when we did the testing for 3 inch cat backs vs. 2.5” cat backs with test pipes that reduce, the largest turbos we tested on a Z at that time were the Sport 700 turbos, the testing was done with stock 2 inch intercooler pipes at that the time. Back then the 2 inch intercooler pipes were causing more restriction than the 3 inch cat back, so we did only see minimal gains due to other restrictions in the set up. If you’re going to run 3071 turbos with 2.5” intercooler pipes, you’re absolutely leaving power on the table running a 2.5” cat back at that power level.
