Message So I wanted to try something. It was a failure.

I got 2 shallow mount Kicker 6.5" COMPVT65. I built the shallow mount box which fit perfectly in the that din space people put amps in right behind the seats.

I wanted something that didn't take up a lot of room but would still add bass, so I tried this. I remember back in highschool my buddy had two 6.5" in a box in the back of his 65 malibu which sounded awesome and didn't take up as much space as a bigger woofer and had tons of bass, although, now that I think about it, that box was still traditional and not a shallow mount.

It's only about 3" tall. It was fun to build, and while it does add kick, it's too punchy, not deep. Pretty disappointing after spending the time building the case, but oh well, live and learn.

I went with an 8" and it's more than enough bass. I'm still tempted to try and build another larger enclosure with these just to dick around or vent this box... but I doubt it will do much.

Anyway, we all have great ideas that are actually bad ideas. This just happened to mine last weekend.
