Some time ago I posted about my z and the long story about how it was wrecked by a drunk driver after doing a tt swap. And how I fought an insurance battle and came out on top. I then bought a native tt body that had been stripped and began the arduous task of restoring my z to an even better glory than once formerly obtained. Even after finishing the car and getting the car assembled after paint. I had more issues car not making the right amount of power and powerband was laggy. Went to z nationals had fun there. Came back and pulled the engine to fix the turbo o ring that was pinched when z1 clocked the turbos and while I was in there I installed the manifolds. After that the car seemed to respond better. But something still wasnt right. Ended up checking the ignition timing and found it to be 6 degrees retarded!!!!!! I just about smacked myself in the face for driving the car for 2 months with the timing so retarded. I ended up figuring out since my tps was out of adjustment I had previously received a false ignition timing. But all and all it was my fault. After I fixed the timing 3 weeks later the head gasket failed on the passenger side. Blew out the combustion rings on the gasket and allowed coolant into the combustion chambers. At that point I pulled the engine again. And replaced just the passenger side head gasket. (Due to the fact I was being lazy and was pressed for time Boy do I regret that decision). Car ran perfect for about a week then blew the head gasket on the driver side!!!!! Im sure you could agree I was not in the mood to pull the engine again! Well waited about 3 weeks to get some free time. The time frame is now around thanksgiving. Finished the head gasket this time and dropped the motor back in. Checked all the sensor and ecu signals (ie timing, tps, o2s) And the car runs beautifully. Ended up getting a dyno and put out 533rwhp and 449 ft/lbs of torque at 19.5 psi. The least I could say was finally I can stop tearing this motor apart. Later It was discovered that I had been mislead about the head gaskets I had used when I first assembled my motor. They were told to me that they were OEM. But upon further inspection they were cheapy hgs. This time I used oem with my arp hardware. If your interested in reading the story and the long trials and tribulations I had here is the link now without further or do here is the finished product. Restoration Thread Too many mods to list Im sure you'll be able to tell whats on the car. So you have an idea. Built block, stock valve train, sport 700's, all breather mods. Other goodies of course. full suspension and brakes. Car is currently located in College Station TX. BTW Paint is Lexus Glacier Frost Mica.
