I used to collect bass guitars (and a few 6 strings). Rare ones. Nice ones. Expensive ones. Cheap ones. I used to have a very INSANE Jeep wrangler. I used to have a VERY fun 240sx. I used to have spare time with friends (Guapo, Aliaz, Tu, etc) I used to ... etc etc.I don't have much left. I have the Z. I have a few guitars left. And I have a small garage workshop (that I NEVER spend time in). I watched happiness get sucked out of my dad year after year. His workshop/projects got smaller and smaller and samller. His happiness did the same. But if he fought for those things that made him happy, would he be any happier? I doubt it, because of the nag factor..... Crap. I just realized it's a lose/lose situation. If you fight to keep the car, you'll get berated over having it, even if you never touch it or drive it. If you sell the car, she'll find the next thing in line that brings you any brief amount of joy (threatened) and start harping on that. I guess my garage is next on her list of threats. Now, the financial issue is a whole other game. Take all the emotion away and your left with "sell the car". And that too is where I am at. Sell the car. It doesn't make ANY sense for me to keep mine either. Insurance, title, tags...every year, Costs me in the neighborhood of $300 just to keep the car SITTING undriven, per year. The problem is, will you change your habits that got you into a bad financial situation in the first place? Everyone wants an easy out, even our Government, but in reality you need to change your habits. My wife and I are almost entirely cash only. We have one credit card. We have one car loan, and one mortgage. That's it. We live on a budget. I ask my self daily "Do I *NEED* this, or do I *WANT* this". If it's a need, then it's cash only. It does make a difference to think this way. It's also painful to delay pleasure. But that makes it so much more rewarding. If you want to take a positive direction in your financial situation, I highly recommend listening/watching the Dave Ramsey program (books/audio tapes/radio program) Here's the jist of it in a PDF, and a piece of wonderful software called Budget Calendar from [ http://www.mishell.ca/ ] it's cheap $20 and very very functional. It makes things so much easier for us to visualize our goals and see where we are at, and how things are looking. shurg. now I need a vodka and vallium.
