Message The Injectors do not completely fail at first....
As the ethanol eats away the plastic coating that protects the injector coil, the injector coil starts deteriorating, once this starts happening, the resistance on the injector will start to change.
When you have a injector with more resistance than the others, the cyl that the higher resistance injector feeds, will be leaner than the rest.
Chances are that when this starts to happen, you will not even know that it is happening. This it where you kill your engine from detonation by running lean on the cyl with the injector that is starting to fail.
Everyone needs to face the fact that the fuel has changed and it does not work with early style injectors.
IMO, I would not look for ways to put a band-aide on the real problem.
Driving a Z hard with early injectors and fuel with ethanol in the tank is playing Russian roulette with your engine.
