since i finished up the business plan and the feasibility study for my company, i took a trip to the local hobby shop to pick up some much needed R&R... Yea, i tend to "stock up"... pictured are the components i need to finish my tribute collection to the US Navy Squadron VF-84/103 "The Jolly Rogers"... famous for their black tails and skull and crossbones insignia. I have the WW2 representation, which was the first, on the F4U-1 Corsair. Later during vietnam, the VF-84 flew the F-4 Phantom... i ordered a new decal sheet ;) In the 80's and 90's, the VF-84 became the VF-103 and flew f-14 Tomcats. Today, they fly the FA-18 Super Hornet. Oh - and what's that in the corner... a 350z?? =) I wanted the 300zx, but the moron at the hobby shop didn't order it... and since i was really jones'n to work on a Z, i bought the nismo version. And just to make things interesting, since i have little free time, i'm working on all of them at the same time. ;) Box shot...
Box threw up shot...
Another thing i'm going to do now that i have some free time, i'm going to take the left over black granite tiles and bits i have from my upstairs kitchen to a local water-jet cutter and have him cut out some Z logos... i want to put a Z logo on the wall in the garage and figured instead of painting it on the wall, i might as well make it out of this granite i have. I don't know how big i'll make it yet, but since i'm going to have one cut, might as well cut more for my fellow nuts out there... Here are some shots of the black granite tile... it's kinda like a black-metallic paintjob... the tiles are finished with a very high polish.
yea, that's in Inches... A close up of the metallic-like flake in the tile.
And here's the back and edge of the tile... it's a pretty thick tile, about a 1/2 inch thick..
So if anyone is interested in a granite logo, let me know. I'm probably going to take them to get cut sometime next week. PS, if anyone has a pdf or jpg of the correct Z logo, send it my way or post it... i can't find the file i had. Thanks!
