I have had the same problem as you, however after dropping my transmission probably a good 10 times while owning the car, I have learned a really simple thing that atleast for me has made stabbing the transmission a lot easier. Most peope, let the clutch disk alignment tool hold the clutch disk in place by itself while bolting the clutch pressure plate on the flywheel. The alignment tool is made of plastic as I'm sure you know, and this allows it to bend very slightly by the little weight of the clutch disk. This will throw off the alignment of the teeth on the tranmision input shaft in relation to the clutch disk when stabbing. I noticed this, and a few transmission stabs back decided to start supporting the clutch alignment tool just ever so slightly with my hand while boting the pressure plate to the flywheel. Npw don't push it too far up or you'll just be doing the same thing that already happens...just in the opposite direction. Just do it lightly upwards with your hand. It doesn't need to be perfect, just try and center it and it'll atleast be better than just letting it hang freely. This should keep the disk from sagging down that tiny little bit that makes it a lot harder to stab (In my opinion), and has always helped me stab the transmission WAY easier than it use to be for me. Ever since I did this, stabbing the transmission started becoming a very quick procedure for me. One or two trys, where as before it use to take me a week, and a lot of cursing. Maybe it's just a coincidence, and maybe I've just gotten better over time, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with this little trick I have been doing now. Hope this helps you out, and good luck with it all!
Thanks, Mike 1991 Black 3.0 Twin Turbo Please...if you are feeling like buying something from AMS, please do not do so. The parts that Vuk at AMS sells are ALL just cheap chinese copied crap parts that were originally developed by people and friends within this close nit community. Yes, the parts AMS sells are cheaper, but with that comes lower quality. By buying parts from AMS, you will be hurting this community, by causing the real innovators out there to no longer want to develop parts for ours cars (SPL, BDE, SZ, etc). This is not an assumption, but is a fact, as it has already happened with several vendors. AMS does no R&D on anything...just simply "copy and pastes" parts. AMS is literally a virus and a scurge in the community, and every part not bought through them, but bought through someone else who actually develops parts instead is a great thing!
