I have been wanting a gauge pod like this for years. Border use to make one for out LHD cars, and I can easily buy them from Japan...however they are no longer made for LHD...only RHD now. To me, this has always been one of the cleanest ways to mount gauges in our cars. Below is a picture of the Border unit (not in a Z32). Years ago, TTPete had one custom made similar, but not exact to the Border units for his car, and then it was sold to someone else, then just a few days ago, it was sold to me. The fit is exactly like stock which is awesome. I really do like it as it will now allow me to have the last two Defi gauges I wanted while still looking "OEM". The unit is damaged on the outside, but I got it for a lot cheaper than the for sale ad, so I don't mind. Gonna go get it recovered next week with novasuede to match my interior. However, before I do this, I was curious to know weather or not people out there would be interested in a product like this for their cars before I get it recovered. If so, I have someone that I'm pretty sure would be able to reproduce these out of fiberglass before I get mine covered. He has made other fiberglass parts for me before, so I know his pricing will probably be around $300 (What the Border units sold for). I can understand if this is too much for most people, and don't mind not making these if the price is too much.....however if there are at least a few people that are genuinely interested in, and could pay a couple hundred dollars for one of these as long as the fit and finish is good, I'll ask him if he can do it before I get it recovered...as I don't want him messing up my new novasuede =) Looking forward to the replies. Thanks everyone! Below are pictures of everything.
I've been missing the last two gauges as seen in my below picture :( This is why I wanted this. perhaps others are in the same boat as me?
Thanks, Mike 1991 Black 3.0 Twin Turbo Please...if you are feeling like buying something from AMS, please do not do so. The parts that Vuk at AMS sells are ALL just cheap chinese copied crap parts that were originally developed by people and friends within this close nit community. Yes, the parts AMS sells are cheaper, but with that comes lower quality. By buying parts from AMS, you will be hurting this community, by causing the real innovators out there to no longer want to develop parts for ours cars (SPL, BDE, SZ, etc). This is not an assumption, but is a fact, as it has already happened with several vendors. AMS does no R&D on anything...just simply "copy and pastes" parts. AMS is literally a virus and a scurge in the community, and every part not bought through them, but bought through someone else who actually develops parts instead is a great thing!
