Message	Definitely get a sub, you'll need one, even with well amplified 6.5" all around. One ten will give you balanced sound, a good 12 will give you more bump, but hardly 500ft window rattling. DIYMA is a good place to start, check out build logs and other forums there. Smart people who love to fab stuff. Personally, I'd leave the crossing over/filtering to the amplifiers. No need to get an external crossover unless you're going with a really complex system. An external equalizer is worth it though, to equalize out nuances in your car's interior.
