Message With the Full Flow Setup in our kit. When the oil temps are low, the thermostatic sandwich plate adapter bypasses the oil cooler and coolant lines internally. Oil flows from the filter tree thru the sandwich adapter, which then directs the oil directly into the oil filter until the oil temps reach the appropriate level.

At that point the internal thermostat within the sandwich adapter opens allowing oil to begin circulating thru the oil cooler.

There is NO thermostatic control like this within the stock Twin Turbo Oil Cooling system. This is more than likely why Nissan went with a serial setup with such small lines in order to prevent the need for a thermostat. Again, this setup is fine with a stock built engine. But vehicles that see extended track periods or are heavily modified will benefit greatly by keeping the oil temperatures better under control.

In all seriousness, how many of you are actually able to monitor your oil temps? And have an idea of where they average.
