More or less a "just because" or "just to be different" type of thing. I wanted something that was a little easier to work on too. Having said that, given the choice to do it again, I'd definately stay with the VG. I don't regret going with the RB (so far), but it's been FAR more expensive than I would have ever imagined. (Like north of $20,000 and I have a mostly stock internal RB26, LOL)
