Tightening the belt only helps for a while, then the same thing again. In my experience, I have found that these belts, especially the alt belt has to be tighter than I would have thought. If you can push the belt with your fingers and get any deflection, the belt is still too loose. Unlike a v-belt these ribbed belts have to be butt tight. When tight, pushing on the belt with your finger should feel like a solid surface. No deflection. If it is sqeeling, it is too loose. You could have the smooth surface sand blasted also, that might help. Slipping causes a smoother surface due to polishing by the belt. Hope this helps.
