Message not always the case. Jim acknowledged to me that the bracket design is
a compromise to suit both USDM and JSPEC fascias and is not always
compatible with maintaing the OEM intake shield. He said at one time he
even considered using an intake shield for the support (which is what I
did) but rejected it because not all filters are of the same size or have a
stud at the end.

The source of fitment problems may be variation in the geometry of
specific cars. Frinstance on my car, judging from the position of the
bumper support brackets, I can see that my fascia sits a bit closer to the
radiator than it might on other or the typical Z32s.

With the Selin mounting brackets my filters where at least an inch too far
forward for the intake shield to be where it was with a single POP. Hence,
that is why I trimmed the elbows and fabbed a new shield.
