Message Don...i have respect for you but it seems you take offense when someone that does this for a living gives his expertise on a subject and you just wisk it away because its not "suggested per FSM" or not what you would do.

Please don't take offense, but the only one I see speaking of your expertise is you. Quite frankly, you sometimes come across as pretty arrogant. How do I know that you're any different than any of the other hacks in your line of work? Almost every machine shop I've dealt with here in the metroplex has fed me a line of BS at one point or another, and some of them have made mistakes that have caused me a lot of aggravation. None of your customers ever speak up and give you props about the awesome build you did, how much power they made, etc. This would really help your credibility IMHO.

I value your opinion, Mitch. But please don't expect me to blindly accept your opinions as fact based only on your expertise as an engine builder when you haven't really proven yourself. I know that the FSM specs rarely apply in a performance build using aftermarket parts. Rather that say it is vital that the pin bores always be honed, it would have been better to qualify your statement and say what clearances you prefer and why. In the case of your oiling system mods, it would be nice if you showed how your mods work. In the case of your ported oil pumps, it would be nice to see how you measured the "17-19 percent improvement in flow, depending on viscosity". Such precise numbers implies that you did some testing. It would add to your credibility to demonstrate your test methods. Yes, I understand that you don't want to give away all of your secrets, but some of us need more than you're giving.

I didn't mean for this to turn into a pissing match.

Happy New Year
