filters making the intake shield sit too low. (I'm running a 99 JSPEC fascia.) My solution is pretty radical. First I (reluctantly) ditched the Selin mounting brackets. Then I trimmed back the MAF end of the elbows 5/8" with some sheet metal shears. Scary to do but came out darn good. This puts the end of each MAF right where the radius of the elbow begins. Next I fabbed an intake shield based on the dimensions of the OEM out of sheet metal. The reason to do this is because the channel at the top of the shield (probably for rigidity) doesn't allow the shield to break downward as rapidly as it could without it. About 1/2" additional room for the filters can be gained by fabbing a shield. Properly drilled holes in the fabbed shield for the bolts at the ends of the filters allows the metal shield to take the place of the Selin mounting bracket. Height of metal shield was reduced (area below red line above on OEM) so that shield would extend just to the bottom of POP filters Here's a mock up before cable installation. Came out quite well IMHO BTW after corresponding with Jim Selin I found that problems with mounting bracket/intake shield fitment isn't that unusual. Upon return of the brackets to him he gave me a refund. He has a great product and gives excellent service. . .
