Even if the products came from the same assembly line (which is probably not the case) and they were sold using a different name that is still wrong because they are benifiting from R&D costs that other companies incurred. Reasoning why at first glance it can be obvious they dont come from the same assembly line. The price difference between MS manis and ebay manis, will come from the R&D costs and the extra costs from higher quality of the product. The assumption you make that the quality of the products are the same since they are coming from the same product line would mean that both companies will incur the same production costs, only one company did not incur any R&D costs. The R&D costs for the production of these parts may be significant, but they are not in a high R&D market like pharmaceutical companies, where the cost of production is only around 20% of the total cost of the product and the remaining 80% is from R&D. So the fact is for the price difference to be so great between MS manis and ebay manis, the difference has to come not only from R&D savings but also from quality of the product. As for everyone saying that ebay sellers that sell knock offs cause a decrease in future R&D from companies is a fact. If they know their product is going to be copied and sold a cheaper price, then incurring these R&D costs will not pay in the future if customers are buying knock offs from other companies. The people who will benefit from the R&D will not even be the companies who did the research, it will be those who are making copies, which is obviously not right.
