Message	What they actually will do is remove most or all of the oil and put in an abrasive substance and run the motor for a few minutes. As the liquid evaporates, it will leave behind lots of abrasive crystals that seize the motor. This guarantees that the polluting engine will never be on the road again. What happens to the rest of the vehicle is unspecified. With the price of scrap steel so low, it seems likely most will be parted out by the salvage yard. - John
